Description

Up for sale is an extremely rare guitar due to circumstances that happened at the Gibson acoustic factory in 2012. What makes this so rare is that it has Custom Shop woods and appointments such as an Ebony fingerboard and and an Ebony bridge on a Standard Gibson SJ-200. Possibly once in a lifetime you may have the opportunity to purchase a guitar this unique and rare due to some interesting and bizarre events involving Gibson that make a great story every time you take your guitar out... please read- Up for sale is a very unique  Gibson SJ-200 Standard in amazing condition.  The biggest bonus to this guitar is that it has an Ebony fingerboard and Ebony bridge. These appointments are standard and only available on the Custom Shop model (which currently sells for $5599, however, in the time this guitar was slated for manufacturing, Gibson was raided due to some of the woods they were using at the time in manufacturing and 'ran out' of Rosewood. So this guitar was completed using the high end Ebony all around. This was originally purchased as a gift for my wife from WILDWOOD Guitars in Colorado (very reputable) and the story was confirmed to me by Gibson Custom Shop support. They based it on the date and the product and he said yes, they in fact had to do that but only to a very few and there is no known number of how many of these exemptions exist but I've never seen another one, and neither had the gentleman at Gibson Gold Customer Support. About this specific guitar... it is in extremely good condition all around. It has been played in the living room for less than 20-30 minutes and has already been in the case in a pet free, child free, smoke free and humidity controlled home.  It plays like a dream and has that 'extra something' that is hard to quantify in words, but my best attempts would be to tell you know it has that special mojo.   All of the factory specs are below.  Upgrades I had done to this guitar include-  * Replaced the bridge saddle and nut with a bone version custom cut from blanks.  * Upgraded the tuning machines to Gibson Deluxe vintage tuners. Stock were Grover Kidney Bean gold tuners. *Upgrade to bone bridge pins with abalone dots. Stock pins were plastic. All of the above work was done at Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto, CA. They are the best and they do all my work that I don't do myself.  I simply cannot emphasize how amazing this guitar sounds and plays. No noticeable fret wear to me but you can look closely at the pictures and decide for yourself. The only opportunity you may ever have to find a one of a kind beauty that will only get better with age. Opportunity is knocking. Are you going to answer?  It is currently strung with Gibson (SJ-200) strings,12-54's. Please let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer. I will ship within 24 hours (often same day) and it will be packed and shipped by FedEx ground. I will only ship to the lower 48 states.  I do not accept returns as I have accurately described the guitar in great detail, provided pictures just taken for this post and will gladly provide additional specific photos upon request if there is something specific you would like to see. Please make sure you look at all pictures and ask for more if there is anything you want to see better. Have a wonderful New Year and thank you for looking.
