The TAB V72a was released in 1964 as a follower of the V72. Both are universal amps and perect as micpre.
After the introduction of the V76 in 1960 the V72 was rarely used as a micpre but when using as a line/buffer amp there more headroom was required. Compared with the V72 the V72a provides 6dB more headroom!
This pair does not have nearby serial numbers but it works perfectly as a stereo pair. The gain and frequency resonse is very similar.
The gain is adjustable from +32 to +40dB (V72 only 34dB).Additional you can purchase a matching 19" rack for USD 900,- including adjustable input/output PAD, ramped phantom power and phase reverse.
