Here is a not working McIntosh MI200AB tube power amplifier amplifier. We had three of these amps in road cases for for a rock band in the 1970-80's (they were biamped w the 200s for low and MC60 for the highs). We had three because it was two and a spare. One night at a show in about 1980 we turned this one on and as it was warming up there was an arcing sound so we shut if off and used the other two. I remember it was a very cold damp night. A few days later we turned it on in the shop and saw some arcing from what appeared to be the leads to the output transformer. We took the output transformer off the amplifier and tried to get inside to check where the leads are joined to the windings, but never got past the tar potting. A few people have tried over the years. It has been sitting on the shelf with the idea that someday we could heat the tar and get inside. now it is 25+ years later and it was still on the shelf. We had speculated that since it was so cold and damp that maybe there was some condensation around the transformer that caused the high voltage arcing and maybe it just the leads inside the case, which is why we saw the flash. The output transformer does have an open winding when checked with an ohm meter. We checked the power supply at the time and it was good so it traveled with us as a spare but was never used. It has been 35+ years since it was turned on. It does not have tubes. I thought the top of the transformer was with it but it has gone missing. If anyone is interested in the amplifier I will look for it. I can take a picture of the top of one of the other two amps so you can see which wire is which. There are schematics on line. the wires were clipped with a small amount left on the terminal blocks and sockets so it would be easy to reattach. I really do not know how damaged the transformer is. A quick test with the ohm meter shows most of the coils looks pretty good
Please look at the pictures carefully and email with questions. It is sold for parts or repair, absolutely AS IS with no guarantee except that is the one in the picures. NO RETURNS. This is only for the amplifier shown. The power supply is in a separate auction. (I have to add this part because of a previous experience. it does not include the carpet it is on and any dust , lint, cat hair, the small piece of my finger in the shot of the front panel, or particles of dirt or paper, seen or imagined to be seen in or around the amplifier) It is very heavy and will be around 65 or 70 pounds when boxed. I will take it to a shipping company to pack and ship it so we will invoice for the exact amount at the time of sale. It will use the Global shipping program if it sells out of the country. I marked it FedEX for the shipping but there may be better ways to get it to you location because of the weight. Local pickup would be best
