History: Emerich Betsy pianos were constructed between 1852 and 1871. These pianos were made with Burl Wood, each finished with hand craftsmanship inclusive of hand-carved gold and pearl inlay, and custom tailored for their owner. Only the very wealthy afforded the luxury of these precision instruments.
The  Emerich Betsy family was a friend with 2 students of Beethoven and built custom pianos for them. Emerich Betsy was generally considered among the most prestigious piano makers in Austria, building only a few pianos per year. The music appears clean & crisp. The musical sound they produce cannot be reproduced by any other piano on the market today or that has been manufactured in the last 80+ years.
There are less than 20 known Emerich Betsy pianos in the world. As a fully restored antique, these grand pianos have a rather high value to a collector and to the practiced pianist. Fully restored Emerich Betsy pianos have sold for as much as $54,000.In our family: This piano has been in our family for 5 generations now, approximately since the 1890s. For a pity there isn't anyone left in the family with talent to play it. It was last tuned a decade ago, so we are sure that with some work it can turned into a perfect instrument again. Inside is a little dusty and one of the legs needs repair (now has an extra support just in case).Condition according to a tuning/fixing master:
The piano has all original parts, except the rear hinge on the top cover/door and maybe 1 hammer.
The pinblock is also original. The master said that those rounded pins are not used since 1900, which also puts the instrument to the 1850s.
The strings are a bit rusty, which also makes tuning not possible at the moment.
