CONN "CAVALIER" BBb SOUSAPHONE - FOR PARTS, REPAIR, OR DECORATION
The sousaphone is engraved on the bell "Cavalier / Elkhart Indiana". It is a model 52K, serial #185,744 made in 1948. In general it is similar in size to the later Conn model 14K.
Collar measures 6-7/16".Flare measures 26".C.G. Conn used the names "Pan American", "Cavalier", and "Continental Colonel" on their less expensive line of brass instruments, still made in Elkhart, Indiana, but with simpler bracing, trim, etc. This is being sold as-is. No warranty. No returns.
Has multiple dents, scratched, silver plating is worn.
Complete with all slides, but no gooseneck or tuning bits, and no mouthpiece or case.
The valve pistons are original and move freely, but they are worn and need to be rebuilt in order for the sousaphone to play properly.
This vintage Conn Cavalier Sousa would be great for decoration, or might possibly be repairable for someone with the time.Again, please be aware that the gooseneck is missing, there is no mouthpiece, no case, and the valves are very worn. The sousaphone is NOT PLAYABLE and is being sold as-is. NO WARRANTY, NO RETURN, please!
