*** I will add additional detailed pictures soon. *** This is my all original Orange Rockerverb 100 Mk I head. It is fine shape cosmetically and functionally. I have personally and professionally cleaned all the jacks, pots, switches and tube sockets so you won't have to worry about doing again if you're an amp guy like myself. I will also go back and label the preamp tube layout/functions so you will have no question as to what section of the amp each tube applies to when rolling different preamp tubes. The available schematics for these are not clear or set in stone (depending on model and version) but I know this one's layout by heart. After trying many in the different positions over the years I had to go with JJ's (Dirty, Reverb and Effects Loop) and Tung Sols in the V1 Clean and V6 Phase Inverter (I think). You will definitely not want to use a 12ax7 in the reverb because it's way too much and will oscillate even at medium settings. I think there is a JJ 12aT7 (or 12aU7) in there now but will check again when I go back in to label those positions.
I will send it with a new quad of EH 6L6s. Had those in there before trying some
EL34's and they sounded great. A standard option which I've been doing on 100w heads for years is to run it at 50 watts as long as you know how to match the ohms (16 ohm cab = 1st 8ohm output on amp). That is the only half power option for this head ohm wise is to use a single 16ohm cab and pull either the 2 inner or 2 outer power tubes prior to running it. These heads will get you well into AC/DC territory and shake the walls but inherently, like a lot of amps these days, has more gain on tap than is usable, in my opinion, without overloading the preamp tubes and getting noisy and fizzy. Down the road, you might want to experiment with different tube combinations, particularly for the dirty channel. I normally run the dirty at about 4 or 5 and use an ole '81 Ibanez SD-9 but an old TS-9 might work better, haven't tried one in years. I've rolled a lot of preamp tubes in here it definitely prefers JJ's in general and not tung sols which are too bright for these amps, except the V1 for the clean and in the PI. Also running it at 50 watts evens the pre-gain and power tube breakup/crunch especially at slightly higher volumes, giving you more of your power tubes and less of the preamp to add to the flavor and quieten things down overall. It just takes some experimentation but once you find the exact power tubes you want to use, I would recommend having it biased to those exact tubes to get it running at it's quietest.
It sounds great and like they are supposed to but understand that these are very loud and bassy so the neighbors, and even your bandmates, may not share the love. (Can I have an Amen!) Also heavier than sin! The amp is very stable with no problems with the switches, jacks, tube sockets or pot noise. A couple of the preamp tube shields got misplaced at some point but are easily replaceable directly from the Orange last time I checked. I was using tube dampeners on there to lessen vibration and microphonics on the dirty tubes as well as let them run cooler. There is also the included original footswitch and an older cover I got used. No issues with the footswitch or switching channels. It will be well packed, double boxed, fully insured and shipped by Fedex Air so you will receive it within 2 - 3 days after shipping at the most. It could take me up to 3-4 days to get it ready to ship depending on when it sells. **** I have the PPC412 with the original Celestion Vintage 30's in it. If you are interested in that as well please let me know, I would be willing to sell it empty if have your own quad of favorites to put in there. Very nice condition on that as well but not as pristine as the head. I should be listing that soon as well but don't have great pics yet. ****
