The guitar you are interested in purchasing was originally manufactured 78 miles south of San Diego, California in Ensenada, Mexico. However, the guitar undergoes a complete transformation at the 920D Custom Shop in Fort Smith Arkansas. We begin with a brand new Fender instrument that we take out of the original factory sealed box. All electronics used in a 920D Custom Shop modified guitar are premium electronics and are of American origin whether they are from Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio, Lace, EMG, Fishman, Fralin, JBE, Rio Grande, Klein or Fender Custom Shop. The 920D Custom Shop uses top quality CRL switches and CTS or Bourns potentiometers. The tuning machines on all 920D Custom Shop guitars and the bridge on most of our 920D Custom Shop guitars are also upgraded to premium Schaller, Fender, Hipshot, or Babicz hardware. The lead technician at the 920D Custom Shop oversees each build and addresses any issues that might arise. The neck relief is adjusted, action is set to 1.25mm at the 12th fret, and the intonation is adjusted to A440 with a Petersen strobe tuner. Any fret sprout and high or low frets will be corrected before shipment. The completed guitars are then evaluated and all electronics are tested for proper functionality. The 920D Custom Shop offers all of the same modifications on American or Japanese made Fender guitars. Prices are typically $500-$600 more for the same modifications on an American instrument. The middle knob is a volume bleed for the middle pickup. It is also a push/pull series/parallel switch. The third knob is the tone control. All three knobs have a 500K value.Seymour Duncan SM-1 Neck PickupVintage-correct replica of classic Firebird pickup. Great for jazz, blues, rockabilly, classic rock and heavy rock. The sound is somewhat of a tonal cross between a single-coil and a humbucker. They're brighter and livelier than a full-size humbucker with more 'bell tone.' The Alnico 5 magnet and moderate output coil windings make it an authentic tonal reproduction of the great sound of a classic Firebird .
