JazzBStrat Co. Boston's Best Electric Guitar Luthier Since the 60's  USA Manufacturer of JazzBStrat Master Built Custom Guitars and Components   JazzBStrat, the Premium Brew!   Legendary Bell Tone   Eric Clapton’s Brownie is perhaps the supreme legendary bell tone Strat, the holy grail of rock ’n roll. Custom Shop’s Mike Eldred asked him about what made Brownie the one. Eric said Brownie was found in the USA while hunting in pawn shops looking for Strats with lots of wear. Clapton then smiled and said, “if it had all those worn out patches it was well favored.”    In other words, the “favored” ones are worn out from getting played most because they have the most desirable tone. Brownie became known for legendary bell tone.    Search YouTube by typing in “STRAT” with key words: like, KILLER TONE, TOTAL TONE, BEST TONE, BELL TONE, CUSTOM SHOP. Also Search the internet for clip / vid demos on brand sites like, G&K, Grosh, Jackson, Nash, Schecter, etc. After hearing their offerings - with their tone fresh in mind - come back and listen to this JazzBStrat. We’re confident that a direct comparison of their tone and ours will reveal who’s is the better Strat.    The vast majority of Strats sellers do not physically demonstrate their guitar's tone. Why? Simply put, very few Strats produce bell tone.  Most simply don’t have it.    PROOF: search eBay or anywhere for Strats "for sale" that advertise, "has bell tone" (and demonstrate a YouTube recorded sound track to prove it). You will find very few if any because its pretty much the way of the world that Strats with no bell tone are the ones put up for sale precisely because they don't have bell tone.    In other words, finding true legendary bell tone among the millions of Strats has always been a time consuming crap shoot.    That has all changed, we  provide our full length YouTube recording to prove this Strat has legendary bell tone like Brownie.   Strat Search   When searching for your very own bell tone Strat, deep down inside you your subconscious thought may be something like, “hope to find a good one.” The inherent inference in "hope" is undeniable proof most Strats lack legendary bell tone.    Truth is, only by a quirk of mother nature’s fate do a few Strats end up with the right neck wood and body wood combination. Eric Clapton searched among untold numbers of Strats and bought dozens at pawn shops in the USA - literally took him years - before he finally found his quirk of fate holy grail, Brownie.    Before you buy, you may want verifiable proof of bell tone quality. Search YouTube key word, “JazzBStrat.” You’ll find dozens of JazzBStrat demos. Listen to them. What you hear is no quirk of fate. Every JazzBStrat has legendary bell tone. We guarantee it.   Cut the Bull   Read . . . based on resonant frequency testing at shops around Boston of over 100 Custom Shop Strats said to have bell tone, we found only 27 produced reasonably good bell tone.   Cut to the chase, if you're buying a Strat online, you might get bell tone, but its much more likely you won’t.    Buy a Master Built JazzBStrat online for less and legendary bell tone is 100% guaranteed.   How do we do it? Its simple. We’re a master builder with very little overhead compared to corporate owned custom builders. We have zero staff meetings to go to to answer to highly paid managers who get their marching orders from higher paid golf course senior VPs, CEOs, CTOs, and CFOs who get their marching orders from more highly paid tennis playing lawyers. We’re content to be just Strat player-builders with decades of hands-on experience and a love of the game. No one is standing over us rushing us to get it done. All of which makes it relatively easy for us to actually work on a Strat without distraction for hours and enjoy every minute.    If you’re thinking of buying a Master Built Strat, we suggest you go to YouTube and listen to their guitars first and then listen to ours. We’re pretty confident you’ll find we do the best job building legendary bell tone qualities into our guitars. We're not shy about our quality and we’re especially happy to be of service to you (and save you some cash).    JazzBStrat, guaranteed bell tone. Its your ear. Its your money. Its your decision. Can you mess this one up?   Proving   If you’ve played electric guitar for a while you understand most guitars don’t sound right. Not talking strings being out of tune. They tune, they play, but their tone sounds empty, uninteresting. Most come across as too shrill, too muddy or just plain dull.    When you do find one that sounds right, there is no mistaking it. Those rare guitars have that special quality known as Legendary Bell Tone.    Strats are famous for having the best of it.  But as rare as it is, it does happen. Clapton, Hendrix, and a few others are famous because it does.    Extraordinary Strats are the holy grail of rock ‘n roll and their rosetta stone is bell tone. What causes those holy grail Strats to scream, wail, and cry pure bell tone has been debated for decades. For almost as long, JazzBStrat has researched, prototyped, and tested bell tone. At first the answer to the debate remained just out of sight. But then, a eureka moment let one small unknown quirk roll into place. Suddenly, all at once, the answer seemed obvious. The epiphany? We discovered the bare wood chassis of all bell tone Strats we tested resonate* at perfect harmonic pitch. All other mediocre and lesser guitars tested did not.    After years of research we have mapped the location of the five major Strat chassis resonant nodes. If the chassis wood is tuned by shaping and contouring the wood correctly, the nodes will resonate at pitch. By tuning in this way the Strat will scream, wail, and cry with perfect legendary bell tone and lasting sustain.    Knowing what we know now, we think Leo’s Strat design is pure genius.   Test    A simple test can be performed with a basic clip-on electronic chromatic guitar tuner. Clip the tuner on the headstock of a detached Strat neck which has the string tuning machines removed. Clip the chromatic jaws over the “A” string tuning machine hole. Be sure the chromatic touch pads clamp onto wood surrounding the hole. With thumb and index finger held in the shape of a “C” place the neck in the “C” so that the neck rests only touching the hand at just above each side of the nut. Hold and hang the neck loosely so that the neck heel can swing below like a pendulum. Now tap a knuckle sharply on the center of the neck heel. Do this correctly and the chromatic tuner will sense and display the neck wood’s resonant frequency (which is inevitably off key). In other words, the off key neck harmonic frequency is sour. A guitar with a sour neck will always be out of resonant phase with tuned strings.   Before each build, JazzBStrat uses a similar advanced apparatus and method to separately test and tune the resonance of the neck wood. The method is also used to tune the body wood separately. Then the two tuned wood components are joined to make the guitar wood chassis. Again, the method is used to fine tune the chassis before hardware goes on. Resonance of the entire chassis must be tuned to the precise frequency at all five nodes.    Does the wood chassis of Clapton’s Brownie resonate at the five nodes at bell tone pitch? I’ll bet the farm on it. Each JazzBStrat wood chassis is precisely hand tuned before hardware goes on. Tuned in this way guarantees every finished JazzBStrat has that sweet legendary “Brownie” bell tone.   * Resonance (Wikipedia)   In physics (and electric guitars), resonance is the tendency of a system (guitar chassis) to oscillate with greater amplitude at some frequencies than at others. Frequencies at which the response amplitude is a relative maximum are known as resonance frequencies (bell tone).    In and around Boston we’re known as the best “Strat” master builder. Why? Most luthiers work on instruments of all kinds. We don’t. We specialize in only one kind, Strats. Our method is proprietary.    Other luthiers work diligently to first make their guitars awesome to look at. Then hope they sound perfect. Its pretty well known most don’t.   We do things a little different. We first tune our wood chassis to resonate precisely at legendary bell tone. In other words, we tune first to be sure our guitar chassis will produce bell tone. Then we finish the guitar to look and sound awesome.   PLAYING PROVES IT !!!   About Us   We started out selling locally by word of mouth. Our sales have grown.
