Here is a rare one ! This is a very nice, and early 1971 Stratocaster in a nice three tone sunburst with a three bolt neck. It has a very early serial number of 276298, which has to be one of the first of the three bolt configuration necks. It is a very nice and fairly light Strat ( just over 7 pounds ), that sounds incredible. The neck is great. The frets are original and have plenty of life. It is a nice full C shaped neck which measures 1 5/8 inches at the nut and 2 inches at the 12th fret. It has the long bullet type truss rod and a single string tree. The original decal with the small one number pat # is in good shape. It retains the original "F" tuners that all work as they should. The neck date is "22 OCT 71 B" which is when it was finally assembled. All other codes are early 1971.The original finish still has nice color and sheen to it, although it does have it's bumps and bruises. The worst of which is wear on the side of the body on the treble side ( picture included ). As you can also see, someone long ago installed an extra screw to hold the pick guard to the body just above the original three way switch ( which works fine ). No biggie. All of the plastic is original and in very nice shape. It even has the back tremelo route cover plate !! You don't see that much anymore ! No extra routes or repairs.                                                                                                                                                       As you can see in the picture, it even has the old style bridge with "pat. pend." saddles that work fine. It also has the original trem bar and tip. All of the hardware is original and in good shape.                                                                                                                                                                          The electronics are all intact and original. No funny business. The pickups are very sweet and "chimy" grey bottom bobbins. Only the middle pickup has a date code of "4361", but it is clear they all went in together as the masking tape is undisturbed. and well balanced. The Ohm readings are as follows:
Neck P/U - 5.78
Middle P/U - 5.65
Bridge P/U - 5.58
The pots are all there and clean sounding. They are date coded " 137 7112."
It ships in it's original black tolex "tail" case in decent and sturdy condition.Overall, this is a true gem of a vintage Strat ! It is a great guitar for the collector or the player. Let me know if you have any questions.
