Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Twin Reverb in excellent condition and in good working order. This top of the line Blackface amp was Fender's flagship model when introduced, and this amp comes from the only full Pre-CBS year of the Twin Reverb's production. Very clean and well maintained, this Twin delivers warm, articulate cleans with ample bass response, smooth EQ and present, sparkly Fender top end. When it comes to the quintessential Blackface Fender amp for clarity, headroom, and the balanced, authoritative response of a four 6L6 driven tube amp, it's hard to beat the Twin Reverb. The top end chimes and twangs without being brittle, and the low end has fullness without being too overbearing; it's as classic and pure a design as Leo Fender ever created!The circuit has been thoroughly serviced and features many of the original blue molded Ajax capacitors in the preamp, along with some Mallory and Nichicon caps to keep everything operating within original factory spec. The filter caps have been recently replaced and a three-prong cable has been installed. Additionally, the amp has been freshly retubed with a matched quad of Groove Tubes 6L6 power tubes, to ensure years of trouble-free use. All of the original Schumacher transformers are intact with early '64 date codes, and the CTS pots date to early 1964 as well.The speakers are a pair of era-correct Oxford 12T6 ceramic 12s. These speakers easily handle the power of the Twin, and the wiring harness is partially original, with new cloth covered leads going to each speaker. The tube chart is intact, and although some of the stamped codes have faded, a previous owner wrote in the #5 production number and "NH" date code over the original text.The original black tolex is quite clean, with only a few scuffs and modest marks of wear. Both back panels are intact as well, and there is the faint remnant of a previous band logo stenciled on the lower back panel, as well as a small hole (presumably from an extension speaker jack, subsequently removed). The grillcloth has been professionally replaced and lightly aged to have a genuine vintage look. The stock baffle is intact, as well as all of the original hardware including the chrome tilt back legs, nickel corners and sphinx glides. The faceplate is in great shape as well, retaining all of the original black witch hat knobs and noting the "Fender Elec Inst. Co." text, only seen on the Pre-CBS examples. There is also a tiny plugged hole between the two channels from a previously reversed mod.
