2002 GIBSON SG SPECIAL - WORN BROWN VINTAGE - RARE IVORY CRESCENT MOONS INLAY - 2 PEARLY GATES PICKUPSGibson SGs share time-tested Gibson hardware and this one is a custom beauty. The neck is adorned with gorgeous ivory crescent moons. The bridge and stop bar tailpiece, and green tulip-button tuners are original. And, although the SG Standard has always been the humbucker-loaded option in the range, this SG Special has been fitted with (2) custom Pearly Gates Pickups (+$210 retail... *see the link below). Imagine extra midrange sizzle that’s been dipped in Texas hot sauce. That’s the Pearly Gates. The Pearly Gates bridge captures all the mojo of the original bridge pickup from Billy Gibbons’ 1959 Les Paul. The Alnico 2 bar magnet keeps the high end sounding airy but focused, and the midrange emphasis gives it a unique Texas sizzle. Pinch harmonics really sing with this pickup too. It really has a growl all its own.The SG Special routes their pickup selection through individual volume and tone controls and a three-way switch.
