1960 Hofner President. Original condition, Rare Bigsby Trem, Rarer Hofner twin Pickup assembly This President plays beautifully. It’s a very original guitar in good condition, with some lacquer cracking but not unsightly. It just adds to the “Mojo”. While it is already loud as an acoustic guitar, this one is a little different to the rest. · It has the cutaway, most favoured by the Jazzers. · It has the Bigsby Tremolo and the correct Nickel-Ali bridge. · It has a very rare original pickup assembly (Type 536) from 1957-60 I have searched high-and-low for years to see one of these Hofner pickup assemblies on a guitar and this is the first one. You can see the assemblies online as catalogue images, but try to find one fitted. The bridge pickup is missing one screw on the B string. There is a small area where the neck joins the headstock (on the back) where it appears that the veneer has lifted. This does not alter the string tension as the action stays low when fully under tension. The combination of a great original guitar with the correct original tuners, good action (3mm max) and all of the original Hofner toys makes this a guitar for the Collector and Player. Everything about this guitar feels right. The pearloid fret dots are all there, the elaborate headstock is all there. The bindings are all good. It has a truss rod (First fitted in 1960).
