Vintage 1976! Pro-Level Bass! Made In USA!
This is really cool. You are looking at a Vintage 1976 Rickenbacker 4001 Bass. This bass is quite clean with a finish that has maintained a nice, milky white color which stands in stark contrast to most of these basses which have faded to a practically banana yellow! Nothing beats the midrange and tonal color of a vintage Rickenbacker 4001, and this one has a wonderfully sweet tone with an acoustically resonant body and comfortable weight. The neck has a C profile that fills the palm nicely without being too deep and the original frets show only moderate wear with plenty of height and life left. On the headstock, the “Rickenbacker” truss rod cover/logo is very clean and the stock chrome tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well. All of the electronics work as they should. This bass is ready for the stage and studio! In Production from 1961 to 1986, the 4001 has been the favorite of classic rock basses. Offered with a combination of a fat Rickenbacker bass pickup at the bridge and a smaller bar pickup at the neck, the 4001 gave bassists a wide range of big bass tones to work with. Starting in 1971, stereo “Rick-O-Sound” outputs became standard on the 4001.
Years of Production: 1961 - 1986Body Style: “Cresting Wave” solidbodyWood Composition: Maple body, Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboardDesign Elements: Neck-thru construction, triangular inlay, bound neck, Ric-O-Sound wiringFinish Specifications: White with black trim Rickenbacker basses are less common than finishes like Mapleglo or Fireglo.
Notable Players: Geddy Lee, Paul McCartney, Chris Squire, Lemmy Kilmister, Cliff Burton
Cosmetics: Good Condition. There are some light strumming and picking scratches on the front. The back has some very light buckle rash. Neck, Fretboard and Headstock in good shape. Original Case has some scratches, scuffs and minor tears. All latches work fine. Very Authentic. Dripping with "Mojo" It is used. Not perfect. Look at the pictures closely. They will tell the story.
