CUSTOM BLACK BOX CHANNEL STRIP ONE OF A KIND PULTEC EQP-1A3 API MICPREFull of all the best parts: UTC, Jensen, Mundorf, Aerovox, Alps, Silver mil-spec wiring, etc, etc...
I am sad to see this go, but I have 2 more pultecs and need funds to complete other projects. The Pultec design is the EQP-1A3 JLM mod. 2520 is a GAR I believe. 2 x vintage UTC A21 for input and output.
The inductor is a custom correct MPP core HF inductor, and take a look at all the tast
y vintage filter caps...
The Micpre and the EQ IO XLRs are wired independently
separate: use either-or-both. Switchable vintage VU meter.
The Micpre is a custom design I think I got here on eba
y.
Jensen input and output transformers and a Sonic Image Labs opamp.
This can be swapped with an
y number of 2520 footprint opamps.
I even got a bunch of API knobs (and a Neve knob) from Capi.

I would print out track upon track and eq whole sections of records with this eq.
It's expensive sounding.
The Micpre I love on electric guitar cabs and snare. Fast and fat.Part of the true funk: the VU is a bit heavy and hits back fast and hard. Used JLM VU buffer and
never full
y calibrated. The plus 20dB switch on the micpre, though wired to an old german line amp
that should deliver 18dB of extra gain, does not work. I would put this Pultec up against an
y out there today...Dr Jackson's probably comes closest to original, but I'd take this over a Cartec, Tube-Tech, Summit, etc.
Regardless of the tube-solid state difference, I find the bass is tighter with the solid-state amp models of Pultecs.  There will never be another one of these...it is objet d'art.
