Technical info & specs, on these vintage Gauss HF 4000 compression drivers - The Cetec Gauss HF4000 driver used an alnico magnet.- Usable response is listed as 500 hz to 15,000 hz.- Throat diameter is listed as 1.9" (4.83 cm). Overall diameter is around 7" and about 5.5" deep.- The voice coil diameter is 4 1/8". They come in 8 or 16 ohms impedance and both are still available.- The part # for the 8 & 16 ohm voice coil is DK 4080, DK 4060, respectively.- These diaphragms / voice coils, are brand new, purchased a couple years ago and never been used. - These high quality voice coils are manufactured to OEM specs. They cost me almost $200 EACH! - "Continuous" RMS power handling using an 800 hz (12 db per octave) crossover is listed as 60 watts. - Driver weight is about 31 lbs each, (revised after 6/18/80), they are about 4 to 6 lbs heavier than the very similar and popular JBL 2441’s. Shipping weight, in the box, is about 32 lbs +/-, with each driver carefully packed.Information about these drivers in particular
- "Resistance" for the 8 ohm diaphragm is +/- 5 ohms and for the 16 ohm diaphragm is +/- 10 ohms. See Pics…- The 4 1/8" Diaphragms are made from aluminum and they are brand new, (never been used). They were just recently installed and were tested and function properly. Please note: The voice coil shown in the Styrofoam container is the old one, for illustration showing what the new ones came shipped in..... See pics - These Gauss compression drivers are in excellent shape for their age, however, they do have some scratches and a few bald spots, see photos. - They are good old school heavy duty drivers that can take a lot of high volume punishment and will continue to be reliable as long as you use a quality power amp with a sufficient clean power rating to power them & use limiters/compressors, etc. - In addition to the above technical stuff, these particular compression drivers came out of a set of fiberglass Community Light and Sound horns mounted in ¾”plywood enclosures that measure 35" wide, 28" deep and 12.5" high. These 2 enclosures that I still have are also for sale separately in another e-bay auction. Contact seller if you would consider a package deal for the drivers and the Community enclosures.- See listing #281942728055 for the Community Light and Sound enclosures - - I’ve seen a few of these Gauss drivers for sale on E-Bay in the past but now are few and far between. At this point, because they are rare, they're getting very scarce and very hard to find now, especially working and in good shape along with brand new voice coils. These drivers are fairly priced according to condition and scarcity, considering the V C's are about $200 for each voice coil/diaphragm! However, you are welcome to make a reasonable offer and we'll see, you may own them.- These are being sold as a pair, (2), so the buy it now price is for (2). However, for the purpose of calculating shipping cost, the shipping has been calculated to ship both in the same package. Ultimately, they will be shipped in separate boxes due to the weight being around 32+/- pounds each. The shipping will have to be recalculated to ship each separately and an invoice will be sent to you.
