If you are looking for that vintage "beauty of the burst*" project and require a period correct old grown wood ( this might be just the IDEAL billet for your deep dish carved top re-top or conversation! You are looking at a "bench mark piece" from my own Private Stock Collection with 3 dimensional figuring and this one has the rarest pattern for eastern maple specie as it resides between ribbon flame and ribbon quilt- this one is a little more unique and came from a premium veneer grade log.............Up for bid is for one (1) highly sought after with rarer ribbon flame/ribbon quilt pattern, slab sawn cut/flat sawn, old growth Eastern Maple (acer rubrum) electric guitar luthier billet. This has a paler vintage yellow patina from storage, exceptional chatoyance with excellent figuring! Excellent growth ring complimented by an excellent tap tone!!!!!Ideal for those that want an ideal period top for an LP conversion or a re-top! LP single-cut outline (non cut-away) on the one face to show fit and size and cut-away halve on the opposite face. Note there is a mitered corner and this will only fit a single-cut design. LP single-cut halve outline ("A" & "B" side) for fit and visual reference. There are several pale spots of gray heartwood remnant that will surface out and/or concealed at the back end when it is glued into your mahogany body substrate. Dimensions (approximate):18.625" long (opposite side edge is 12-7/16") x 7-3/16+" at its widest (opposite end tapering to 3-7/8") x 1.790" thick (see photo 4 for dimensions). Old growth, well seasoned (8-10 percent moisture content). Slab sawn cut. Sapwood. This will need properly acclimation to your shop prior to fabrication. Clear shellac/denatured alcohol mixed applied to the surface to help show color, grain and figure (if any). Photographed with exterior natural lighting conditions. Ends sealed with Anchor seal.
