Up for sale, a 1958 Gibson LG-0 in excellent condition, with a chunky C neck profile and warm, detailed tone. A crack-free instrument produced before the days of bolt-on (or plastic) bridges were introduced on this model, this LG-0 has slender and tall braces that allow it to really sing and project. The mahogany body has a more detailed and delicate sound than most LG-0s, with sweet top end and bass response that stays balanced and restrained, never getting too boomy. Professionally setup with comfortable low action and fresh 12-53 bronze strings, this is an LG-0 that would be a perfect secret weapon in the studio or on stage. The neck has a C shaped profile indicative of 1958, with plenty of depth and roundness. It's a substantial feeling profile that has more girth than in later years and undoubtedly adds to the overall power of the tone. The original frets are intact on the Brazilian rosewood fretboard, and these frets have been leveled and crowned, still having some height left and showing only a hint of wear beneath the B and E strings on frets 1-3. the neck is straight, the truss rod is responsive, and the action stays nice and low all the way up the neck, with room at the saddle for future adjustment if desired. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width and is a modern replacement. On the headstock, the open back strip tuners are original and turn smoothly with straight shafts. This guitar has received the typical maintenance due an instrument of this vintage, and the bridge has been reglued so that all edges sit flush with the top. A new saddle was cut as well. All of the braces are solid and there are no cracks or repairs on the body. Visible through the soundhole, the LG-0 model is stamped on the inside back of the guitar, and the "T" prefix factory order number is stamped on the heel block. While it doesn't appear that the original nitro lacquer finish was ever stripped, there is clear overspray on the entire body and neck, and this finish shows some scuffs on the back of the guitar and a small spot of wear into the mahogany top on the bass side of the soundhole. The headstock face was also refinished black in the past over the original logo, and this finish was recently (and very carefully) removed to show the original logo and black lacquer which was subsequently shot with clear nitro and buffed.
The original chipboard case is included and in great shape, with working latches and the stock handle.
