Here is a great 2.2 length wide-bore, CHIKUSING Model, rootend bass shakuhachi pitched around A (A = 440hz). CHIKUSING translates as Hollow Bamboo and essentially my Jinashi natura; bore style instrument but with my Spot Tuning Method to strengthen the response and balance while retaining the natural bamboo sound. all natural flutes. This one was made from properly aged JAPANESE Madake bamboo harvested around 30 years ago. I purchased the piece in Japan around 2003 and it was already about 20 years old then. I only recently finished this flute. It played very nicely with no need for work in the bore. It is a standard-sized bore and almost made itself. I just sealed the interior wall with Shuai urushi lacquer. The voice is warm and focused and relatively easy to play as far as shakuhachi goes. It can be played softly with a sweet tone or pushed to an electric scream in the hands of a a more aggressive player. The player should have medium to large hands. Please know that the standard length 1.8 is the traditional sized for serious study. See my store for those flutes.
