Up for sale is a 1930 Selmer New Large Bore (Early Super Sax) Tenor Saxophone! This is a great find! Serial number is 13096, which puts it as being made in 1930. The saxophone is in fantastic shape and has been repadded. There are some small dings and scratches but the most part it is in great condition. It has the original lacquer. The tenor has a gold tint, and while I am not an expert on the matter I believe it is because of the aged clear coat. It has scratched off in spots and lets the lacquer color come through. The only mechanical issue is that it appears that the High F left palm key has a bent rod which is making it hard to press (still functions). It comes with a hard case (not original) as well as a neck strap and the ORIGINAL, never used, polishing cloth and swab. It does NOT come with a mouthpiece, ligature or reed. This sax is a transitional sax from the 26 to the Super Series/Cigar Cutter horns. I'm most certainly open to new information you may have about this saxophone and would love to know if I should add/change to the classification of the horn.I do accept returns for 14 days and return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Shipping is $60, and this covers shipping, materials, and insurance. I take extreme care in packaging horns that I sell and get them packaged and out of the door under 24 hours! Louisiana residents pay 5% sales tax.I do not do international shipping, so please DO NOT buy this instrument if you live outside of the USA as I will not ship. Why buy from me? I am a music educator who collects and sells music instruments on the side. I make sure that every instrument I sell, unless stated otherwise, is in great playing condition. I know how to play all of the instruments I sell, so I am able to actually test the instruments to make sure that they work properly. I am always honest and straight forward about the items I sell, and always make a point to show any and all cosmetic issues with the instruments. I take care of the instruments that I sell as if they were my own, and I ship instruments in a manner that I would want my most prized possession being shipped to me.Thanks and happy eBaying!
On Jan-13-17 at 13:31:17 PST, seller added the following information:EDIT: Took the sax to an area pro and he noticed that the cork under the high F was too large, so it isn't actually bent and works perfectly now. He says the horn plays similar to the SBA and loved it. Have had a few questions about the horn: -The receiver has not been replaced. There is a color difference at a line but it is the original receiver. There may have been something covering that area when it was in storage for a long time. -I'm not going to stop the auction early for an offer. -You can message me if you would like more photos of the saxophone in specific locations. -If you are in the area you are more than welcome to come play the saxophone.
