- all solid tonewoods, high arched spruce top, hight arched intense flamed maple onepiece back, nice flamed maple ribs, body with cornerblocks and fix points on the back, CARVED bass bar, Stainer brandmark on back
maple neck with shafted-on & deep cut snail, ebony tailpiece with Wittner finetuner, ebony endpin, baroque maple bridge very old sticker inside: JACOBUS STAINER IN ABSAM PROPE OENIPONTUM 1665
There are NO cracks or damages on this fine piece. The violin and its original shellac varnish is showing patina and authentic & characteristical signs of the time. The neck and fingerboard (not original) were reglued in a fomer repair, we guess that the back was reglued, too. The job was well done, all is fully stable, but the neck is a nuance out of the middle and is tending a few degrees to the right.
Soundpost, tailpiece-hanger, finetuner, nut and pegs were replaced once, too The neck (shafted on snail) was modified due to scale changes in earlier times. With new strings
