1971 Ibanez Model 2365 - J*master lawsuit copy
Estimated price for orientation: 900 $
Category: Electric Guitar
Class:
Description Brand: Ibanez Dexterity: 6 String Model: 2365 String Configuration: 1971 Body Type: offset contour Exact Year: Japan Series: Right-Handed
The model 2365 was only made from 1970 to 1973. (I know this is from 70-71 because of the metal truss rod cover. There is, nor was there ever a serial number. Ibanez did not begin adding s/n to their guitars till 75-76.) This model is very rare. They never come up for sale, and certainly not in this condition. The J*master clone originally left the factory with two flat soap-bar pickups that resembled P90's, and with a floating tremolo like the famous guitar it was copying -- but without the original's rhythm circuit. The model 2365 originally only came in sunburst, with tortoiseshell guard. When I purchased the guitar (in 1995) it had been gutted. No electronics, and painted with a brush. It took me the next eight years to restore it. A new pickguard, Gibson 57 classic / classic plus pickups, and CTS / switchcraft pots and toggle switch were a start. The body was re-contoured and refinished with nitrocellulose lacquer in Dakota Red. Fortunately, the original neck was undisturbed, and only required a new set of Fender 'F' tuners to be fully playable again. A nice, wide, thick U shaped neck. I do not have the original trem arm. Original parts as follows: body, neck, neck plate, neck screws, trem system. Replacement items: pickups (Gibson 57 classic / classic plus) tuners (Fender / Schaller 'F' tuners) electronics (as outlined above) pickguard (custom-cut) plastics (Fender Strat Volume & Tone knobs.) Comes with HSC and Fender strap.
