A good antique east european violin made circa 1890.Good antique german or east european violin made circa late 19th century around 1890. The top is made of two parts of spruce and shows thin grain lines widening towards the edges. The back is made of a single piece of a faintly flamed maple. The ribs, neck and head are of the same wood. The varnish is of an dark brown colour on a golden-brown ground. The violin has been made in copy at the time, and the artificial wear has melted with the real one, creating a wonderful patina. The violin is in an excellent condition, the repairs are fake and were made at the time.The violin has been entirely revised and set-up, including a rosewood tailpiece with ebony fret, a Despiau bridge, a new sound post, a set of pegs, a rosewood chinrest and Thomastik Dominant new strings set. The instrument comes with a new case. Insured shipping to EU $50 and US $75.
