This is a 1967 Yamaha SG-2. Made for only two years, and never imported into the U.S., these were Yamaha's first solid body electric guitars (serial number is in the 4000s). Styled like the descendent of a Mustang, a Jaguar, a SG, and Rodan, these were built for the very popular surf market (Link Wray's Screamin' Red was a SG-2). Yamaha made these to compete with U.S. guitars, and it shows in the details. The pickups sound close to a Jazzmaster, but less glassy, and with more bite. The tremolo system is very responsive and holds intonation well over the roller bridge.  This one is in very good shape, with wear expected of its age, but which doesn't show heavily thanks to the very tough finish. I photographed one larger scratch and the hole leftover from the strap button, which had been moved to the neck heel. It is all original except for a easily reversible change to make the pickups hum-cancelling in mid-position and the tremolo arm and collet, which are from a SA-5 (which used an identical tremolo unit). The frets are low (they were built that way) and have wear, but still play well. This is a great guitar, but I have not been playing it much lately, and it really deserves to be played. Comes with a non-original hard shell case that was custom built for this guitar.
