With its discrete Class A architecture and versatile multi-pattern design, the Blue Microphones Kiwi is one of the rare workhorse mics that the discerning professional engineer clientele at Sweetwater has sworn by for over a decade. This solid-state microphone features one of Blue's amazing B6 capsules and one of the purest possible signal paths, providing you with a delightfully broad frequency response that's untarnished by audible noise or distortion. Add to that nine distinct polar patterns, and you'll find yourself reaching for your Blue Kiwi condenser microphone all the time. Blue Microphones Kiwi Multi-pattern Condenser Microphone at a Glance:
An excellent condenser microphone for any sound source
Multi-pattern design lets you record in any kind of environment
Bundled with the essential accessories you need
An excellent condenser microphone for any sound source
No really, we mean it. Like many Blue microphones, the Kiwi has found a home in the Sweetwater Studios mic vault and made its appearance on countless recordings. Its lush yet mostly transparent sound has made it a hit for vocals, acoustic guitar, and electric guitar cabinets, whereas its open sound and extended frequency response makes a pair of Kiwis a natural choice for piano or drum overheads. Its low distortion and nearly nonexistent proximity effect have come in handy for close miking brass and wind instruments as well, and when you set it to omni in front of a precision rig, you get both detailed direct sound and full-sounding room sound all at the same time. You just can't beat that kind of flexibility!Multi-pattern design lets you record in any kind of environment
Unlike many multi-pattern condenser mics, which feature three or maybe five polar patterns, the Blue Kiwi offers a whopping nine total pattern options, including several in-between settings. The immediate appeal of being able to tighten up your cardioid pattern enough to totally isolate a single instrument in a loud environment is an obvious enough way in which this particular feature can come in handy, but one trick we've found that you may not have considered is the ability to widen the cardioid shape to deliberately capture some, but not all, of the room ambience when you're tracking a single instrument. Omni, cardioid, figure-8, and everything in between - whatever your needs may be, the Blue Kiwi delivers.Bundled with the essential accessories you need
Don't you just hate it when you buy a piece of gear and immediately need to order some essential accessory? Blue gets that, which is why they make it a habit to include the essential accessories you need with their mics. In the case of the Blue Kiwi, you get both a lovely wood storage case and a shockmount. The box is made of lovely cherry and comes lined in rich velvet that protects your Kiwi in transit. The shockmount is Blue's The Shock, which does an excellent job of decoupling your mic from your mic stand to ward off low-frequency rumble that can ruin your recordings.Blue Microphones Kiwi Multi-pattern Condenser Microphone Features:
A true studio workhorse studio microphone you can use on any source in any setup
Discrete Class A signal path delivers clear sound with an extremely broad frequency response
Blue's B6 large-diaphragm condenser capsule provides 9 distinct polar patterns for maximum flexibility
Modern solid-state architecture gives you rich lows, balanced mid-range, and an airy presence in the highs
Ships complete with a velvet-lined cherry wood box and Blue's The Shock shockmount
Requires +48 phantom power
