Here is my very rare Hammond B-100 portable organ, designed exclusively for gigging, plays perfectly with all draw bars fully working so is in overall good working order. There are a couple of minor things that do not affect the performance, which are listed further down in the condition description. A good practical and portable organ that has now become very rare and hard to find in the Hammond world (hence starting price). It has a self contained case with double latch cover, ready to transport quickly and easily to your next gig. Mains/Power lead included. Please note that postage/shipping is free within the UK only. I will first give you some info and will then go on to condition etc.The B100 was introduced at the same time as the twin manual B250. (ca.1980) Both of these portables were manufactured by Nihon-Hammond in Japan. Very few of these organs were shipped to Europe, which makes them very difficult to find these days. Slightly larger numbers of the B250 were brought in.
The story behind the B100 is a bit vague. One source claims that the introduction of the Korg CX-3 in 1979 effectively killed off the competition. Indeed, the CX-3 was a very successful organ, and a pretty good impersonator of the classic tonewheel sound. The other thought is that 1980 was just about the peak of the synthesizer boom and organs were not the flavour of the month. This is a real shame for Hammond players because the B100 is a fantastic portable organ. It has a very good basic sound and some good features, whilst being minimal in design and appearance. The best feature on B100, by far, is the variable warmth, which is essentially and over-drive effect. No other portable can achieve this without a valve 122 or 147. The B100 sits in a black, chunky case with silver trimmed edges – really cool. The basic sound of the B100 is very good and a lot fun to play.Condition: The Hammond B-100 is in good working order, apart from the line out jack socket isn't working, but can easily be fixed. I have gigged with it and recently recorded an album with it, running the output lead from the headphone socket, works fine. Ok so here are the minor issues: The Line Out input on the back isn't working, but will need very little work to fix it. However, I've been running a jack lead from the headphone socket and it works and plays perfectly. I have played live with it like this and recorded our latest album in the studio with no problems. Still, should you wish to get the line out working, it will take little effort. The small knobs from the slider controls are missing, but this is no problem as I've included some replacement knobs with the organ that work perfectly (as shown in the photo's), they are not permanently fixed so you can use them at your discretion. I will include them separately in a small bag with some further extra ones. There is no slider knob for the transpose as this is a lower fitting, but it still works perfectly well as it is, so is fully functional. There are some small surface scuff marks on the case, but it is all intact, fits tightly together and is good overall. The organ is ready to play and will connect nicely to your Leslie speaker should you wish to do so. Please note this auction is for the organ only and a Leslie speaker is not included. Here is some further technical info:The B-100 gives the unparalleled "Hammond" sound from a truly portable instrument. 9 harmonic Tonebars provide literally millions of tone combinations. Second and Third Harmonic Percussion plus optional 'Key Click' intoduce the distinctive sounds synonymous with Hammond. 3 Presets provide immediate and dramatic tonal changes. A transposer and fine tuning control add greater control and flexibility for group use.Specifications: 61 note keyboard9 TonebarsThree Pre Sets Second and ThirdHarmonic PercussionDecay Fast/SlowKeyclick Accent / Volume Normal/SoftVariable Warmth / Variable BrillianceVolume ControlLeslie On/Off - Leslie Slow/FastChorus On/Off - Chorus Slow/FastTransposer / Tuning ControlFitting for optional stand.
