Description
Brand: Valco Exact Year: 1950

Up for sale is a 1950s National octal tube amplifier made by Valco (who also made supro, Oahu, airline, and Montgomery ward). The amp sounds great but has some microphonic tube rattle when cranked, which is common with these octal tube amps. The instrument channel is very clean, but when a guitar is plugged into the microphone channel and the volume 3/4 up and beyond, the volume dramatically increases and...magic...some of the best fat octal tube overdrive and tone you'll hear from a tweed amp that is comparable to a Fender. The amp was recently serviced with a new 3 prong cord installed, and new power switch, and a couple of caps. The speakers ar not original (70s Fender) but sound great. The amp is structurally sound but have a few small holes caused by carpenter bees (see pics). The tubes are: 1x5y3, 2x6v6, 1x6sl7 & 1x6sc7 Overall this a great, rare amp. It took me over a decade to find this amp (I love Valcos). Make it yours! Thanks again. I will ship only to the lower 48 states and accept not returns.
