Here for sale we have a singularly rare Premier offering ... An all original bebop sized set from circa 1972 in Silver Star. This comes from an era when Premier were at the top of their game and whilst not particularly known amongst the jazzers had still succeeded in attracting a few endorsees from that world. Max Roach amongst them ... One consequence of their under representation in this field is todays opportunity to buy a top quality set at about a quarter of the price of the equivalent Gretsch. I have been using these drums for a fair while now, my RBs stay on the shelf... And the sizes are:18x12 Bass drum. 3ply mahogany shell with solid beech rerings. 8 Sidney Opera House style lugs, 16 Ls and cast claws. Disappearing spurs and 3rd generation spigot mount. Used Emperor coated to batter and Aquarian coated to reso. There are a few areas of minor foil loss to the shell along with a few general scrapes, the chrome does show some pitting too. The hoops show a fair bit of wear and tear with some pedal chew and areas of paint loss. Unfortunately the trumpet mount holding the tom is gone, these appear regularly for sale on Ebay should you require one. No cymbal arm mount has ever been installed but I would be quite happy to do so for any purchaser for cost.14x14 Floor tom. 3ply mahogany shell with solid beech rerings. 16 SOH style lugs, slot headed tension bolts. Streamline cast hoops and rectangular damper, T screw leg mounts and legs with original rubber feet. Ambassador coated to batter and Everplay to reso. Some minor foil loss to wrap and small scratches along with some pitting to chromework. 12x8 ride tom. 3ply mahogany shell with solid beech rerings. 6 SOH lugs, slot headed tension bolts. Streamline cast hoops and rectangular damper plus 3rd generation spigot mount. Used Everplay Plus coated to batter and Everplay to reso. Some minor foil loss to shell and small scratches along with some pitting to chromework.So here's an excellent opportunity to obtain an extremely rare Premier set, i've only ever seen one other of this era in this configuration. And that is a working set unlikely to ever be for sale! Likewise this one has been regularly gigged and as such shows a few signs. The Silver Star wrap is notoriously fragile and needs to be cared for, this set has been and apart from some minor foil loss is in tip top shape. Please peruse the photographs at your leisure.
