I am selling a stunning Round Neck Resonator Guitar hand-built by Roman Zajicek at Rozawood Guitars in the Czech Republic in 2011. This guy is as good as it gets, and is truly a master craftsman in the best old-world sense, yet also a great innovator. He pulled together so many great ideas to make this guitar the work of art that it is.It is brand new, with warranty. I acted as their interim importer from 2011 to 2012, in an attempt to get them some dealers in the US, but could not get anyone to stock them. (Everyone wanted them on consignment.) It’s a pity, because their work is amazing. Seemingly, most retailers these days just want “bread and butter” Martins and Taylors. Rozawood is very well known and successful in Europe. This has only been used to show to potential dealers, and has never been sold. The shape of the body is unique and lovely. Unlike most resonator guitars, the body is X-braced, more like a Martin Dreadnaught guitar. (Paul Beard also uses this open-body X-braced top design for some of his models.)This is, without a doubt, hands down, the finest-sounding and best-looking round-neck resonator guitar I have ever seen or played, and I have played a LOT of them over the years. The guitar is made of all solid woods, no plywood at all. The top. back, sides and neck are solid figured Mahogany of a very high grade. The fingerboard is Ebony. The sound holes are highly stylized. The nut is bone. The tuning machines are German-made Schallers. It is bound in beautiful Italian celluloid, which gives it a stulling appearance.Rozawood’s unique canted back helps to direct the sound from the back of the cone out the two sound holes. The mechanism is a “spider”, not a “biscuit”, and the strings rest on wooden saddles. The resonator cover and tailpiece are plated with a chrome job that would stand up to the scrutiny of the pickiest Harley-Davidson customer. As lovely as this guitar looks, it would all be for nothing if it did not play like warm butter and sound like heaven on earth, which it does. It is clear, sweet, detailed, complex, loud and deep.It is in new condition, except for a tiny chip in the finish on the absolute top back edge of the headstock. Other than that, there are no marks, dings, scratches, scrapes, cracks, or anything that would deter from its beauty in sound and looks. The action at the 12th fret is a perfect 5/64” on the lowest string and 4/64” on the highest string. The scale length is 25 1/2" and the nut is 1 11/16" wide. The body is 15 1/2” at the lower bout, 11” at the upper bout and 9 1/2” at the waist. It is 4 1/2” deep at the end block. To hear a sound clip I recorded of this guitar, click . I used two microphones set about 18” apart, in front of the instrument. There are no effects. To get the best possible idea of the instrument’s sound and “presence”, I recommend listening with headphones or very good speakers. The recording was done at my desk, and does not do justice to the instrument, but it gives you an idea of the ballpark we are talking about. It comes with its original custom Hiscox fitted hard shell case. Its retail price in Europe is $5200.The instrument comes with a 48-hour approval period. If, within the 48-hour period, you decide that the instrument is not for you, simply return it to me in the same condition as I sent it out, with full insurance, and I will refund your purchase price, minus shipping to you. Buyer pays return shipping.TERMS, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: Buyer pays selling price plus shipping and insurance. I typically ship with USPS or FedEx, though other arrangements can be made at the buyer's request. No fee is charged for packing or handling. I will gladly ship anywhere in the world, but beware, international shipping charges can be steep, and the buyer is responsible for all duties, taxes, VAT, brokerage and storage fees on their end. Check my feedback. I'm 100% for real. Please contact me with any questions.
