What makes this guitar special: One of the most unique Les Paul designs Gibson ever came up with, the Les Paul Recording model was designed with the studio in mind. Don’t let the control panel scare you! Built to suit the needs of any recording situation, it houses a user-friendly control system with an impressive myriad of tonal possibilities. These options include built-in phase switching and hi-lo output selection, 3-way pickup and tone selection options (with tons of great sounds courtesy of the low impedance pickups), along with adjustable bass, treble, decade, and volume. This particular piece has seen some playing over the years and shows a handful of signs of wear, but is still as useful and versatile today as it was 45 years ago. As with all our pieces, it comes professionally inspected and set up by our in-house master luthier, ready to play right out of the case.Cosmetic condition: Good condition for its age, with expected signs of usage throughout. Various scratches, dents, nicks, dings, chips, and scuffs are present, along with some visible buckle rash and a few small areas of weather checking. The original black control panel was swapped for a chrome one (original is not included), and there is notable oxidation present on almost all the hardware.Body: Solid mahogany body with bound mahogany top in natural walnut finish with harmonica bridge and chrome stopbar tailpiece.Weight: 10 lb, 3 ozNeck: Nicely rounded 3-piece mahogany neck with cream colored side dots and pearloid mini-rectangle inlays. Double bound rosewood fingerboard is in good shape, and well frets show wear consistent with age, they still have a good amount of life in them. All notes intonate properly up and down the length of the fingerboard. Bound headstock with pearl Gibson logo and pearl split diamond inlay. Chrome sealed tuners function as they should. Neck is straight and plays nicely up and down the length of the fingerboard.Electronics: Dual low impedance Gibson pickups (Bridge-3.76K ohms, Neck-3.73K ohms) with 3-way pickup selector switch, 3-way tone switch, phase switch, and output switch. Black tophat knobs, 1x bass, 1x treble, 1x decade, 1x volume. Pots date to ’73 and all electronics are in full working condition.Case: Original hard shell case is included. Case is well worn, with tolex tears and duct tape patches throughout, but all latches function and it does the job fine.
