Description
Brand: Gibson Exact Year: 1956

1956 Gibson Gibsonette GA-8. This is an 8-10 watt combo that has been fully serviced, recapped and re-tubed. It has the original Jensen field coil speaker, which is in excellent condition. It is a very simple (2) 6V6, (1) 5Y3, (1) 12AX7 circuit. 6V6's are new JJ's, 12AX7 is an NOS GE, 5Y3 is an NOS RCA. I also have another 12AX7 and a vintage 12AU7 I will throw in as well. In my opinion for at home playing, the AU7 is the way to go. The amp is warmer, has a bit more definition and the volume knob is more useable. This would be a great addition to a home studio or could probably handle a small gig if you like the very dirty tweed sound. Nice bluesy tone to full on growl for your living room or apartment. Overall this is a fairly clean amp considering how rapidly Gibson amps from this era tend to deteriorate cosmetically. All of the tolex is there and would probably clean up nicely. The chassis is not shiny but not completely rusted out either. Really cool amp, has that wide panel Fender Tweed look. In the era and line up of things, this amp would be comparable to a Fender Harvard of the day.
