1994 Fender Stratocaster Plum/Black Stratocasters have been a staple guitar shape for many of years. They come in all colors and pickup variations and are just really easy to play, awesome guitars in general. The older they get, the more beat up they get, the more they are played, it all just makes them look that much cooler. This particular one is from 1994 and has been played all its life and has some scars to prove it! The Case… This guitar comes with an aftermarket case. It is not a perfect fit, but does the job. Extra bubble wrap will be sent inside the case if you wish to keep it in there for added support, though it is not 100% needed. The Guitar! If you’re into black Stratocasters, perhaps you should give this one a try. This guitar appears black from far away, but when you get close, it starts to be come evident that it is a very deep purple/red plum color. Very cool. The guitar is littered with picking and polishing scratches on the front. There isn’t a single place that was spared. Good news is that these are only really noticeable when the light hits it at an angle. There is one deeper, always evident, scratch on the front by the input jack as well as a non-finish breaking ding on the bottom of the front of the guitar. The headstock is missing the 40th anniversary badge. It is common to take those off in order to make your strat look more traditional. To be honest, the 40th logo badge is VERY ugly. There are also some dings around the ball of the headstock on the back. The back of the neck has a few scratches on it on the 6th fret area and a larger ding in the 9th fret area. There is also some dirt build up by the top of the middle piece of wood in the neck making it so you can lightly feel that area if you scrape your nail against it. Lots of belt ware on the back of the guitar – more so than on the front because some of these are deeper and always evident as they were cause by a belt buckle. The most notable area of this is on the top horn, but there are lots of scratches all around the back as well as some wear on the bottom of the guitar itself. Bottom strap button is a strap lock (partner strap pin to this one is in the case) and the neck strap button is a traditional styled one. Fretboard and frets were just cleaned and polished. GHS SubZero Guitar Boomer Strings 10s were also just put on. There is moderate fretware especially on the G string up until the 7th fret where it only shows light signs of ware. Still perfectly playable, though there is some fretbuzz while played acoustically – no fretbuzz is audible through amplification. Pickups and pots appear to be original to this guitar. Pickup stamps read 016730 and it has the double stacked 2nd volume pot. Neck date stamp is April 26, 1994 Unfortunately, there is no whammy bar available for this one. Conclusion If you’re looking for a sweet players grade strat from the 90s with the playware to prove it – this is the one for you! Please be sure to watch the video tour above AND the pictures listed !
