Hi and welcome to my auction for a beautiful antique silver trombone which belonged to my late father.It's a beautifully crafted silver plated brass trombone made by Kitchen & Co. of Queen Victoria Street, Leeds (no longer trading). There is a date stamp of 1835 and the detailing is incredible.It comes in a very well fitting case which itself looks original. It has a second tuning section and an original mouthpiece also made by Kitchen & Co.Kitchen don't exist anymore but they are a recognised name. I have spoken to the British Trombone Society to try and establish some history as well as many instrument sellers and repairers. Each time it comes out of its case, eyes light up and people are thrilled to see such a beautifully crafted instrument. Everyone agrees how unique this is, and indeed how very rare it is too.It's a little bit smaller than modern trombones, possibly more related to the earlier sackbut rather than a trombone. I don't play, but I can make it sound and it's a truly crisp and even sound that sends shivers. I certainly remember my father playing it in his jazz bands.If you require information please get in touch. If you need more history however, I'm all out!
