I told myself that I was not going to sell this guitar, having recently reacquired one after selling my previous 2 (sunburst and black), but a friend willed me his amber version of this guitar when he passed (it was quite a site when playing duos with him, as we both had the same guitar, albeit in different colors!). Additionally, I am trying to get some money together to pay for my medical licensing exams (as a D.O. student we are obliged to take both the D.O. and M.D. exams - and pay for them ourselves!).If you are viewing this auction you already know that this version of the EXL-1 isn't made anymore. I recently learned, from the sales associate at D'Angelico, that this version was only made in limited numbers by the previous company that owned the D'Angelico brand. When the current company bought the name, they had no intention of continuing production of this beautiful guitar (as it costed them more - with all the ornate abalone inlay work and ebony fretboard). The guitar is in 9.5 out of 10 condition with only minimal playing wear (I do like to practice every day!). The action is super low with no fret buzz, and the intonation is spot on. These are, in my opinion, the best made and best playing jazz boxes for under 2k produced in the last 15 years. Comes with the D'Angelico branded hard shell case as pictured. Email me with any questions, and thanks for looking!
