This Harmony Jupiter H-49 Stratotone is a rare and extremely desirable hollow body guitar from 1958. It's also a players choice, with real playability and tone in spades.Fitted with a set of fantastic DeArmond S-Grill Pickups, which are in superb condition, this guitars tone is pure vintage. On a clean setting, it is rich and vibrant whilst remaining crisp and clear with each note. When the gain is increased, the pickups flourish with high level output which will roar yet remain full of clarity. The hollow body adds the depth, giving this guitar a real jazz/blues sound that is incredible whether picked, strummed or played with a slide. The tone variations on this guitar are endless. along with the independant volume and tone controls for each pickup there is also a "blender" control. This allows you to select how much from each pickup you want to put into the tone, giving such a vast array of tones that the sound you want is just a few turns away. It really works, and is a compliment to what is already a great and toneful guitar. This is also a great looking guitar. The sunburst back is complimented with a solid spruce top, and the tortoishell scratchplate provides the perfect base for the unique tone pots and pickup selector switch. The sunburst finish continues up the rear side of the neck, while the fretboard is finished with rosewood. A real slice of vintage goodness for the eyes. This guitar has been set up with a higher action, and so is suitable for slide guitar along with conventional playing. The neck is a joy and is fast and responsive, giving the player the confidence to stretch out the notes and reach for the tricky chords. The condition of this guitar is a real surprise, you don't often find guitars of this age in such good condition. It has been played throughout it's life, but it has also been cared for. Minor dinks and scrapes are present, but nothing near the level that a guitar this age should have. There are lacquer cracks in places, which you'd expect, but the frets and fretboard are in fantastic condition. The original hard case is present, and it has seen some action, but it is functional and the guitar is safe within it.
