This is a mint condition 1985 Mesa Boogie Mark 3 combo amplifier. It sounds incredible, from Fender clean tones to hi gain tones from Santana to Metallica. Comes with the original EV 1x12 speaker. This one is the Black Stripe version, which is the first year Mesa Boogie issued the Mark 3. These early ones supposedly have the same power transformers as the Mark 2c+. The big difference between the Mark 2 & 3 is that the 3 introduced a third channel, a "crunch" rhythm sound right in between the rhythm and lead channels. The two rhythm modes share all of their controls, while the lead mode only shares the rhythm modes' tone stack featuring independent gain and master volume controls. The physical switch for the crunch rhythm mode was implemented as a push/pull switch above the Middle frequency control. This Mark 3 has presence and reverb knobs on the back. This also has the "Class A/Simul-Class" switch or the "60/100" watt switch. In Class A, only the outside (outer left & outer right) pair of tubes - the EL-34's will be on. The inner pair- which are 6L6's - will also be turned on when the switch is in the Simul-Class position. I have only used it in the studio for recording and not gigged out with it. Very well taken care of through the years. I have a few Mesa Boogies and don't use this one any longer.
