WESTERN ELECTRIC 639A BIRDCAGE RIBBON MICROPHONE with COVER. Works well!
Estimated price for orientation: 850 $
Category: Vintage Pro Audio Equipment
Class:
Description Type: Vintage Microphone Model: 639A Brand: Western Electric Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
These microphones were originally made by Western Electric and later made by Altec. This is one of the original Western Electric production microphones. There are no cracked ribs in the enclosure and a few are slightly bent, but I did not want to bend them back because of the possibility of breaking or cracking. Also some of the original cloth material has come loose from the top rib cage in a small area. This can be seen in the photos. There is a Cannon male XLR connector attached to the mic with about a 14 inch cable. It was tested using my professional audio system in all modes of operation and sounds great by my standards. The ribbon is the original as far as I can tell. The stand shown is a generic stand and is not included in the auction. The threads on the bottom of the mic will fit any standard stand or boom as needed. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
