Description

1965 Sears Silvertone Model 1457 "Amp-in-Case" electric guitar and original tube amplifier. Manufactured for Sears by Danelectro.  Complete and 100% original, including the original on/off wedge footswitch for the tremolo.  Guitar top and back are metalflake red sparkle, while the edge trim remains clean and white. The amp provides great class A tube tone. A significant upgrade over the more common 1448 single pickup amp-in-case model, the 1457 features a two pickup design (with Danelectro's famous "lipstick" pickups), concentric volume and tone knobs for each pickup, and a fantastic range of glassy single coil tones. The amp is also notably more complex than the 1448, with a built in bias-based tremolo circuit, and a 8" Jensen C8R speaker that handles the breakup and tone of the amplifier quite well. The amplifier case is in similar clean condition, with original wicker grillcloth, stock speaker, and clean faceplate. The dark gray sparkle case retains the original hinges and handle.  The only flaw is a small tear on the edge of the case (pictured.)   Due to age this guitar and amp are being sold as-is.
