Fox Model II Professional Wood Bassoon, Overhauled, Great Dark Tone! 240 upgrade Up for auction is a Fox Renard Model II Wood bassoon in nice condition with a brand new protec case. It plays extremely well, and has a great dark color. This high quality Wooden bassoon is made in the USA by Fox, one of the premier bassoon makers in the world. This instrument includes standard keywork plus High D and High E keywork for full range. The Model II is a long-bore professional instrument originally designed by Hugo Fox after his personal Heckel bassoon. They are known for having a great dark sound. These instruments are still being made, and new cost $26,000. Now, you can have a professional bassoon for the price of a new student model fox 240. We have just finished overhauling this instrument, and it is now in great playing condition with all new pads and tenon wrappings. It plays cleanly and evenly up and down. New finish was applied to several areas of the bassoon that were worn through, springs retensioned, keywork buffed, and tenons rewrapped. It is ready to go and will last for years. The plating is nickel, and has spotting on the plating, which is only a cosmetic issue. A Fox CVX Bocal is included with this instrument. Cosmetically, this instrument looks great from an audience perspective, but there are still some imperfections on the finish on the wood, mostly henpecks a few some small chips in the lacquer that are highlighted in the photos below. That said, the photos speak for themselves. This instrument plays great, and looks great. The case is brand new from Protec. Also included is a silk swab, seat strap, hand crutch, and reed.
