GENERAL INFO.2003 Gibson Les Paul Historic Collection 1959 Reissue with Verfied Brazilian Fretboard. Yes you have seen right, BRAZILIAN Fretboard. Let me start by saying this guitar is not only a very rare sight on these shores but it is also a "Gibson Artist Relation Program" Guitar (more on this later!). It is a low serial number that falls well within the 9 3001 -9 3674 range and was one of the first 50 made. I have an email from Gibson confirming the Brazilian board. These are the must have Guitars out of Historic Collection range. It is highly unlikely that gibson will acquire any further supply of Brazlian Rosewood to use due to legislation law and certainly non will enter the UK. So we have a great investment opportunity to collectors and players alike. A beautiful Bookmatched Eastern Hard Rock Maple Top. Anline dye's where used on these and is finished in Washed Cherry gloss. The flame is very uniform and is very 3D and deep. There is also plenty of fleck going on. This is the Maple which was used on the late '50 Gibson's. All original hardwear including The first time Burstbuckers and Bumble bee caps where used on Historics. Lifton type case, Hang tags and COA are included. The star turn though is the Brazilian Fretboard. Beautiful chocolate brown and tight parallel grained and a joy to play. you could go on all day about Braz boards but we all know they are the "HOLY GRAIL" of woods.! The one thing I will say is: You see some Brazilian boards with, which some call flame or figure running through it! This is the outer side of the timber towards the knots and the premium wood is the "Heart", Tight grained and dark chocolate in colour. Gibson made 674 of these Braz boards, they used ALL their stock up. The good and the not so good! Please. No Swaps/Trades or dreamers. This is a serious Guitar and would prefer to meet face to face with buyer. you can Text me . 07538838646. CONDITION.This guitar has seen some action and has been used on 30 recording, 8 Albums and serveral tours. It has sustained some wear marks over this time but is generally in very good condition. The Lovely Flamed top is very clean with only the lightest of marks and certainly nothing major or through the finish. The same goes for the neck and the main face of the back. The main area of wear is around the sides of the body, around the Jack plate area and opposite side. It has some Wear, dings, scratches and marks in this area but nothing major ar all.(See photos). The Headstock has some minor light scratches which is due mainly to string changes. The frets and fret board are in excellent shape with only minimal fret wire wear. The case has seen better days with a lot of scuffs around the bottom of the case but it is still in working order and strong. Gibson Artist Relations Program. In 2003 the first 50 of this run of R9's (After the 9 3001- 6 which where prototypes) where given out to Gibson Artists and this is one of them guitars. I'm not going to name drop the artist here but suffice to say, he's a Nashville artist who has played with many bands and on Artist's recordings. Also enjoying a solo career. If it's important to you, I can tell you who it is but i'm not going to adviertise it and you probably won't know who he is anyway but will know the people he has played with/for.I don't attach any monetary value to this but I do to the fact that it was one of those first 50 made for Gibson Artists. All the woods used would have been specially selected for these Instruments, as they would be the showcase for the series. Which would make them a "Cut Above The Rest" .! Payment and shippingThe guitar is priced accordingly to condition and if your looking for a mint collector grade Instrument, this is not it. That said apart from the marks to the sides of the body the rest of the guitar is in very good condition. The Condition is not a bargining lever! It is what it is.I would prefer the buyer to collect and inspect this guitar. It's not really an Instrument you would want to put in the hands of a courier!!!
