Unlike the other listings out there for this guitar, there isn't a crack in the wood or finish on this baby! (Heaven forbid!) This guitar is in great condition from a play standpoint, with the slight patina of some of the brass parts (please look carefully at the pics). Its all as you would expect from a never-gigged players guitar that has been loved, but never abused.  It has a wonderful aroma and just exudes a vintage vibe all-round. One play and you realize this is in another class of guitar. The Japanese makers of this fine instrument not only made it to be a Gretsch killer, but with it's center block, sustain without feedback, and incredible versatility of the Dimarzio push/pull pickups, well, it is just something you strum and your jaw drops. It feels so good and so right in your hand. Balance is perfect, sound is incredible! Pampered instrument. Thought I would never sell it, but my daughter has a bunch of medical bills now and I have no choice.Again, and I cannot overstate this fact: the playability is superb. I have played or owned Gretsch, Gibson and Epiphone hollow and semi-hollow body guitars and this outplays them all. The neck is straight and sweet, the variety of pickup settings, combinations really allows for a surprising range of styles. Now it probably sounds overhyped, but it is like family to me this guitar. I love it so much! I found this on the web in a forum and I agree so much with the guy: "The fortunate who have owned these will understand: this is the best guitar overall that I have played over the course of 40 plus years as a guitarist!"
From The Yamaha Website:The Yamaha AES1500B combines the character of classic American archtop-electric design with Yamaha high quality construction. The semi-thinline AES1500B, a classy, comfortable archtop cutaway design, is an instrument that successfully straddles the rock, country and jazz genres. The two custom Q100 DiMarzio humbuckers possess a powerful warmth perfectly balanced by the clear, well defined cut-through of the maple body construction. Moreover, each pickup can be coil split, which in conjunction with the three-way pickup selector lends a whole new dimension of tonal versatility and subtlety. Two DiMarzio Q-100s produce a sound that lies between a single coil and a humbucker. Push push tone controllers split pickup coils allowing this guitar to cover a wide selection of sounds from Jazz to Blues to Rockabilly. What looks like a full acoustic guitar is actually a semi-hollow design with a center block located underneath the bridge to prevent feedback. The AES1500B is equipped with a Tune-O-Matic bridge/Bigsby B6 Vibrato.1. Front Volume2. Rear Volume3. Front Tone (Push-Push Switch)4. Rear Tone (Push-Push Switch)
