Description Type: RIBBON Item Type: RIBBON MICROPHONE Brand: RCA Model: 77D Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
This is a used but not abused RCA Model 77D Ribbon Microphone. It has a recently installed new ribbon and cloth gril screen by Steven Sank, the GURU of ribbon microphones. He learned from his father, Jon Sank, who was the Chief Microphone designer at RCA in Camden, NJ. Steve lived here in Albuquerque and I learned a lot about the RCA mics and have purchased several from him over the years. Steve thoroughly checked this mic for me in his shop in Tucson, AZ.There are some chips in the front housing as can be seen in the photos. This in no way affects the sound of this great vintage microphone. There are a few minor dents in the grill, again, which do not affect the sound. Included is the stand adapter, an old RCA cover (bag) and the standard XLR male connector. This mic has been tested for all modes and functions as originally from the factory. This includes the low frequency roll-off switch shown on the bottom of the microphone shell.Check out the photos attached and please ask questions if needing answers. I will be glad to answer to the best of my knowledge. I have been collecting microphones for over 25 years and have done some repairs on various brands and types of microphones. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
