Up for sale, a 2002 Fender Stratocaster '62 American Vintage reissue series electric guitar in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This discontinued model features one of Fender's rarest custom colors, Ocean Turquoise, and comes complete with the original paperwork and brown G&G hardshell case.100% stock aside from a medium jumbo refret and upgraded Volume pot, this Strat can chime, sparkle, and quack with the best, delivering an array of classic Fender tones. Whether it's the biting twang of the bridge position, the extra warmth and girth that comes from the neck single coil (ideal for solos), or the thinned out quack in positions 2 and 4 on the blade switch, this Strat is simply a delight to play. The instrument is quite resonant acoustically as well, weighing in at 8lbs even with an alder body. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, we've restrung this Strat with fresh 11-50 strings and dialed in the action and intonation for optimal playability. The neck has a medium C shaped profile that borders on the more slender side of things, with a generous slab rosewood fretboard. The profile has fairly slight shoulders and only gains a bit more depth as you move into the higher registers of the fretboard, playing easily in all positions while feeling fast yet substantial. The medium jumbo frets give the guitar a feel more akin to the '62 "Hot Rod" series that Fender briefly produced, and these larger frets make for easier bending and optimal fret life. Currently, the frets show only the faintest wear in the first position beneath the plain strings, with zero wear up the fretboard and perfectly rounded crowns. The fretboard retains a 7 1/4" traditional Fender radius, and the nut measures just a hair under a full 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the Fender Stratocaster waterslide decal is completely intact, and the Kluson-style Gotoh tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The stock electronics consist of three 57/62 black bobbin Fender pickups with beveled alnico pole pieces and cloth wire. The wiring harness is original with the exception of the Volume pot which has been upgraded to a 500k for a bit more snap and punch. This pot also features a treble bleed mod so that top end clarity is retained as you roll down the knob. The mint green pickguard and aged plastic parts are in fantastic shape, as is the chrome bridge base and saddles. The vibrato works very smoothly with three springs and responds quickly and reliably for quick shimmies and deeper dives. Even the stock chrome "ashtray" bridge cover is present, along with the original arm.Removing the neck shows a pencil date on the heel from 1/25/02, while the stamp on the body in the neck pocket is dated Oct 18th, 2001, and the back of the neck boasts a date of February 15th, 2002. Suffice it to say that this guitar began production in late 2001 and was released in early '02. The V series serial number is also present on the chrome neck plate. The gloss nitro lacquer Ocean Turquoise finish is in remarkable shape, and this guitar has been very well cared for since it was new. There is barely a scratch on the body, and the neck profile is also smooth and glossy with no nicks or marks of wear. We'll conservatively call this guitar "near mint," but it certainly is as clean as they come, especially for a discontinued model over a decade old!The original brown tolex G&G hardshell case is included, along with the original paperwork. Please check out our shop "Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar" on the web, and feel free to call us directly with any questions at 206.399.8518.Shipping in the continental USA will be $60, fully insured and shipped via FedEx Ground.
