Bechstein Model III Concert Grand Piano With A Polished Rosewood Case C.1900 A magnificent Bechstein Model III concert grand piano made in Berlin circa 1900, serial number 54059. French polished rosewood case in superb condition with ornate carved cheek detail, filigree music desk, turned octagonal legs and fluted pedal lyre, iron frame, overstrung, 7 1/4 octaves, full 88 note original keyboard in pristine condition, 7' 8" in length by 5' wide, instrument is in full working order having recently undergone an extensive refurbishment, light and even touch and warm, very powerful Bechstein tone, tuned and serviced January 2017. A beautifully presented and rare example by the illustrious C. Bechstein. Dimensions L 234cm x W 150cm Bechstein History The Bechstein name is synonymous with Germany's finest piano building traditions. Carl Bechstein opened his piano factory under the name of C. Bechstein in Berlin, Germany in 1853 (the same year Steinway established the Steinway factory in New York). The firm's reputation for building superior instruments spread quickly during the 19th Century and Bechstein became one of the most celebrated piano builders in the world. These 19th Century Bechstein pianos were known for having a very melodic tonal quality enjoyed by many of the notable composers of the time including Franz Liszt. Carl Sr. died in 1900, leaving the firm to his sons Carl Jr., Johann and Edwin. The firm continued to celebrate massive success well into the 20th Century. Bechstein is one of the few piano manufacturers in the world to survive 160+ years, and they are still building exceptional pianos today.
