This is a Florida Otto Link - Slant Signature - Tone Edge - Facing Number Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece with its original box! Upon researching this model- we have learned that this is the most sought after hard rubber version of the Otto Link Mouthpiece!This Vintage Mouthpiece is in really great condition. The area which normally has bite marks only has a tiny scratch in the center (see photo). The edges are nice and smooth- and there is no structural damage to the m/p. The slant signature has some wear from the ligature- and there are the expected surface scratches from the ligature- but all in all- this piece is in really GREAT shape! Please review photos and zoom in. We took great care to photograph at angles that would showcase this mouthpiece's condition.The original box has the name and address of the original owner written in blue pen on the side (see second to last photo) and his original cost (way back when- it appears that he paid some $16 plus tax!)We have kept this mouthpiece in the condition in which it arrived here at our store. We did not do any extensive cleaning. We did not do any alterations. We find that vintage collectors like these mouthpieces/vintage pieces "as is" so that they can make those decisions once purchased. We always respect that choice.Some info that we found when researching this mouthpiece:SLANT SIGNATURE HARD RUBBER "TONE EDGE":
The first Florida Rubber TONE EDGE mouthpieces had Otto Link written at a 45 degree angle across the back of the mouthpiece, invoking the name Slant Signature Otto Links. The first versions had the tip opening stamp on the table. The shank was rounder and they had a slightly larger chamber than the later Florida models.The Slant Signature TONE EDGE is the rubber version of the SUPER TONE MASTER and is still the most sought after rubber version of the Otto Link mouthpiece. There were three models produced. The first model had the facing stamp on the table. They were the darkest of the three models. The second model had the facing number on the side, with a much wider table and noticeable machine marks on the table. The third model still had the facing number on the side, but added USA to the shank. The latter two models had a bit more baffle material, generating more bite to the sound.
