For sale is a wood flute made by Karl Hammerschmidt and Son sometime around 1950. It was recently overhauled by Pat Nash of Mynett Music and is in remarkable playing condition. The grenadilla wood body is crack free with nickel silver keys and mechanism that play easily and smoothly. The headjoint has a bakelite lip plate with the familiar "reform" lip. This one is a good one and very responsive. Plays sweetly through all three octaves with a very nice lower octave. This flute is very well made and has gold springs, an extra left hand trill lever (G#-A) a sounding length of 598mm, so it is pitched at a=442. Comes in its original case in good condition. For the money, this flute is a very decent player, far better than many of the older German wood flutes I have owned that were typically pitched lower.
