The tenon on this headjoint was made slightly undersize, so to most likely fit your flute. It should fit a Yamaha or Jupiter size flute tenon without much adjustment necessary. If needed, the headjoint tenon can be adjusted (within reason) by any woodwind technician. Please note, that tenon size can only be made to fit your particular flute accurately, if you especially order a headjoint from me and send in/bring your flute for fitting. Headjoints sold on Ebay are as is, but are made a bit smaller than normal so they will likely not to be too large for any flute. In case it is slightly too loose and you don´t want to bother about having it fitted, a small piece of sello tape on the headjoint tenon usually does the trick.Please note, that most flutes like Yamaha or Jupiter measure 150mm from tenon end to mid embouchure hole! The tenon itself is usually 40mm. If your flute has radically different measurements, please do contact me BEFORE buying a headjoint. I do not accept any returns, because it was not known that your flute radically differs from these measurements!A little about the process of making my headjoints:
These wooden headjoints are handcrafted by a trained woodwind instrument maker! These are not cheap imported chinese headjoints, polished in the UK! I carefully select, import and season my own wood and every headjoint I sell is handcrafted by myself from scratch! I do not use CNC machinery or copying devices, which are employed by most makers these days, every headjoint is individually handmade. The embouchure hole is shaped the traditional way, entirely with handtools. Let me know if you would like to have a headjoint especially made for you from the wood of your choice with Sterling Silver fittings. If you would like to make an appointment to stop by my workshop for discussing your requirements, you are most welcome. I usually have some headjoints with Sterling fittings (Colourfull Creations - Elegantia Range) available for sale. If interested, please inquire, as these will not generallly be made available on Ebay anymore.
Extra crowns can be made available for your headjoint, but need to be ordered before the headjoint leaves my workshop! Average price for an extra crown with a semi-precious stone and ornamental turning will be £25. Alternatively you can also send me a (round) stone of your choice to be set into a custommade crown (the latter only being available for my Elegantia Range of headjoints, please inquire!) Here some personal feedback of customers who have previously bought a headjoint from me: …thanks for the wonderful head-joint and the time and care you have taken to make it for me. It does sound very warm in tone colour and has a rich resonance. The timbre is a delight in the lower register and allows both an even legato and clear articulation all the way to low B. … I have been comparing the qualities of sound provided by my four head-joints, Flute Makers Guild / silver, Ewen McDougall / gold, Robert Bigio / silver lined blackwood, and your own (Kingwood / unlined, ELEGANTIA).
