This vintage Neumann KMi Preamp comes with a KM84 Capsule and a Case and a Butterfly Mic Clip. Condition:
This microphone is in good condition with normal wear, including some etching and a slight crease/dent on the body. This microphone has been tested and sounds great. Please see pictures for details on item condition. Product Details:
The Neumann KM-84i (KMi preamp + KM84 Capsule) is a minature microphone with a near perfect cardiod characteristic (due to the excellent KM 65 capsule it contains). The circuit was made quite small so that the mic could be made with a diameter of only 21mm and a length of 110mm. The KM 84i was designed with a 10 dB attenuation switch, therefore allowing the microphone to be used up close with loud instruments. By placing the pad at the gate of the field-effect transistor (FET), this "pre-attenuation" prevents the hot capsule signal from overloading the front end of hte amplifier. With the switch on, a sound pressure level of 130 dB can pass through without distortion.
