isnw_ecp Roland TR-808 in good used condition, all functions, buttons, knobs and switches work with the minimal amount of noise typical of a good working TR-808. it's an earlier 808, serial number below 63000 so it was probably manufactured in late 1981.it is not a museum piece and the price reflects that - but if you want a solid working 808 that sounds great, this is your machine. typical later lower pitched snare and cowbell, clean and crisp hats and cymbal. the start/stop switch was repaired recently (very typical on any used 808) and works great, the tap/fill switch works fine and did not need repair.all that being said, the machine is 35 years old and is being sold as-is, with no warranty or returns. many of the pots are missing their colored inserts, typical of many 808's with original pots. the power cable is missing the ground plug, which has never been a problem. it's from 1981, so it has mono outputs, no FX, no MIDI, no presets or anything you'd expect to find on a modern piece of plastic gear. by today's standards it is primitive so please, if you don't know anything about the TR-808 then don't buy it. if you need a manual, a PDF is readily available online or i can send you a copy via email.also included in the sale is a Roland MSQ-100 MIDI/SYNC sequencer, which i used to synchronize to other MIDI gear, and a Roland SYNC cable - all you need to run alongside your setup. i have included a MP3 of a pattern on the 808 - nothing fancy, you hear all the sounds at some point when they are brought in and out. recorded mono directly out of the main volume output into a sound card, no EQ, no compression or any other processing. as you will hear, the output is clean and noise free.buyer pays the actual cost of shipping with insurance - the 808 and MSQ will be well packaged, but it will not be shipped without insurance.
i will calculate the cost of shipping and insurance to the buyerinternational Ebayers, please contact me first before buying so we are on the same page about duty/customs, and shipping and insurance costs, etc... i will not declare a lower value for customs or do anything to go around the Ebay system so please don't ask. some countries i just can't or won't ship to, on a case by case basis (Vietnam, for example, does not allow the importation of used musical equipment).thanks for looking!
