Hohner Merlin is an evolution of the "Morgane", a instrument much more successful and comfortable that his little brother the famous " 2915". If you play the diato, and want something a little more complete only the Morgane, then the Merlin is made for you! 2 keys of alterations to the center of the keyboard gives a lot of possibilities to get out of the directory diatonic standart: Fa / Mib on the first button, and BB / c on the second. Evolution of the Merlin "Merlin 2" has benefited from the experience gained by its predecessor (the Merlin, and also the Morgane), and improves some points of detail: aesthetics of the buttons and the General presentation... and lose weight! (only 3kg 500!) Agreement 1/2 swing. The a/d tone is quite common in France, notably to play with old and bagpipes in d. Tuning a half swing (demi-swing between swing and tremolo). The Merlin has a thinner sound, with much less vibrato than the 2915 (black and gold).
Hohner is known for the strength of its instruments, the Merlin is an excellent quality / price, (Walnut) wood, with the pretty grid on the side of the keyboard melody and traditional corners/metal angles Hohner. Its looks nice, its very nice grid nickelée, its buttons one little 'retro' with the screw in the centre, its covered bellows of solid strips of moiré fabric wear make it a tool to look nice, strong and durable.
In France, Belgium and Britain the most common tone is g/c.
The "Merlin" is provided with a light box, type suitcase hardtail, exterior in black leatherette, perfectly to the dimensions of the accordion, locking.
