This is an .835 bore BBb rotary-valve Cerveny tuba. (Most tubas are .735 bore I believe.) It's the compact wrap of their famous “Kaiser” model.I'm the original owner. Bought it brand new, kept it in a soft case case ever since. It's in extremely good condition, almost like-new, except for a series of shallow dents down the reverse left-hand side - see the rear-view picture - and a few small dings around the base. There's a barely noticeable bend at the edge of the bell caused by the nickel-silver rim, and a chip in the lacquer on the outside of the lower curve measuring a little less than 3/4 of an inch. Valves and slides still function perfectly, all pads and bumpers are in good shape, and it plays as well as it ever did. This is a professional symphonic horn with a giant sound. The big bore needs a larger-than-average mouthpiece shaft (I can include my adapted Conn Helleberg if you want it), and takes a bit more wind than you might be used to, but the adjustment is worth it for the big sound. Despite its heft it's surprisingly agile to play, a nicely centered tone with just the right amount of edge. The package includes a custom made Donna Altieri soft case (costs about $385 new) and a folding metal stand, also fitted for the size.If you're in Manhattan and serious I can hike it over to you. It's a helluva horn.PS - The Woodwind/Brasswind catalog, where I bought it originally, lists new ones at $10,799.PPS - Payment in full is due within 24 hours of auction closing through a PayPal account with a confirmed address. You cannot request shipping to an alternate address. I will ship only within the continental United States with delivery confirmation via an insured shipper.
